Abstract A hybrid noise computation method is presented in this paper. Large-eddy simulation with wall-model equation proposed to compute the flow field. With a stress-balanced equation, near-wall cost of large eddy was effectively reduced. Large eddy simulation (LES) is now seen more and more as a viable alternative to current industrial practice, usually based on problem-specific Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) methods. Access to detailed flow physics is attractive to industry, especially in an environment in which computer modelling is bound to play an ever increasing role. However, the improvement in accuracy and flow d...
متن کاملA Time Series Sodar Simulator Based on Large-Eddy Simulation
A sodar simulator capable of producing time series data emulating sodar signals has been developed and tested. The atmospheric fields used to populate the sodar simulator are taken from output of a large-eddy simulation code. The characteristics of the sodar (number and zenith angle of beams, beamwidth, transmit frequency, range resolution, etc.) are defined by the user to allow emulation of ex...
متن کاملAdaptive Large Eddy Simulation
This project is focused on development of a novel approach, called Stochastic Coherent Adaptive Large Eddy Simulation (SCALES) for modeling and simulation of turbulent flows. The approach comes from the realization of the deficiency of the current Large Eddy Simulation (LES) approach, which resolves only the large-scale motions instead of coherent energy containing flow structures. The SCALES a...

In 1999, Stolz and Adams [Phys. Fluids 11 (1999)] unveiled a subgrid-scale model for LES based upon approximately inverting (defiltering) the spatial grid-filter operator and termed .the approximate deconvolution model (ADM). Subsequently, the utility and accuracy of the ADM were demonstrated in a postenon analyses of flows as diverse as incompressible planechannel flow and supersonic compressi...
